It's a Trap 03:27
It’s a Trap (Nick Piunti, Donny Brown) I know what you want, before you start, I know what you’re gonna say. I know every word that you thought you heard, I can’t make it go away. You can paint it in a new light. You can fake it, ‘til it’s just right. You can call it what you like. But don’t fall for it it’s a trap. You’ll never get it back, never get it back. Don’t fall for it it’s a trap. You’ll never get it back, you’ll never… It’s a rivalry based on make believe, if you take them at their word. In the present tense, hard to make much sense, hard to make it work. Just as soon as you’re certain, there’s a lie behind the curtain, it’s the reason you’re still hurting. All in this life, all for gone.

Heart Stops Beating (Nick Piunti) She’s gonna break your heart tonight, any way she chooses. Ain’t gonna be no silver lining, every body loses. She keeps thinking there’s gonna be someone else that’s better and better. She’s gonna break your heart tonight, only if you let her. Screaming out loud in a crowd if it fits her mood. Burning inside just to find what she can do. Well she wants it, ‘til she’s got it, and her fingers are wrapped around it. Listen to the sound when your heart stops beating. Listen to the sound of a slow repeating. Listen to the sound when your heart stops beating. You’re gonna find out fast enough, there’s no getting over. She’s the last one you can trust, remember what you told her. You’re always thinking there’s gonna be one more night that’s better and better. She’s gonna break your heart tonight, only if you let her.

Time Machine 04:11
Time Machine (Nick Piunti) I’m not much for memory lane. The stories always sound the same. Never as cool as we thought we were, The pictures now seem so absurd. Back to all the places in your time machine, old familiar faces in your recurring dream. I don’t remember, and no I don’t care. Was it September (December)? Don’t wanna go there. Waiting for the good times to return, I struck a match to watch them burn. Been there done that too many times, I don’t wanna recreate the crime. Well I’m not much for memory lane. The stories always end the same. Digging up the dirt to watch it grow into a mountain when you should let it go.
4.
Six Bands 03:19
Six Bands (Nick Piunti) She’s in six bands none of them good. Tries to sing only if she could, but she’s drowning in the talent pool, chasing dreams can be so cruel. She’s got six friends telling her lies, “quit your day job, go for a ride.” “We can say that we knew you when, always be your biggest fans.” Don’t keep us waiting, don’t keep us waiting, don’t keep us waiting too long. You’ve got six friends waving goodbye. Blinders on and you cast aside any good reason why this could fail, etched in blood in your paper trail. When a six sense is all that you trust, make or break, make it or bust, you rely on every story told, or make it up as you go. Don’t keep us waiting… It’s been six years, none of them good, just because doesn’t mean you should beat the doors down in L.A. How many times can one soul take? You’ve got six friends counting both hands, broken glass filling up with the sands of time no longer on your side. Will you notice the end of the line? Don’t keep us waiting…
5.
Head in the Clouds (Nick Piunti) Yeah, you got your head in the clouds, and the air is so thin you might never come down. Yeah, you got the wind at your back, well I’ve got my excuse in case I’m attacked, with a bad case of amnesia, when I don’t know how to please you. I could kill you with kindness. Are you really expecting anything less. I ran out of words meant to impress. You’re so good as guessing the rest, What I meant to confess. Yeah, you got your head in the clouds, and the air is so thin you might never come down. Yeah, I got a right to complain, While I burn at both ends you’re just fanning the flames, with a bad case of amnesia, well it’s so hard to believe you. You could kill me with kindness. I wasn’t really expecting anything less. You ran out of words meant to impress. I’m so good at guessing the rest. What you meant to confess. You set the stage in motion, you want it all then you want more. You set the waves in motion, so good at running up the score…
6.
Seven Days a Week (Nick Piunti) I’ve been going backwards and I’m thinking of the last words that you told me, back when we used to speak. I’m looking for a reason and I swear it’s not treason though you sold me something I no longer keep. You might think its blind luck. On my own I should be stuck, without you on my mind seven days a week. I was on a downslide swept away into the riptide when you found me, over my head and falling deep. Well that was just an instant dose of karma but I quit it. So don’t hold me, to something I’ll no longer be. You could say its bad luck. On my own I should be stuck, without you on my mind seven days a week. Seven days a week, seven days a week. Well I’ve been going backwards and I’m thinking of the last words that you sold me… I don’t think its blind luck. I’m on my own and I won’t be stuck without you on my mind seven days a week. Without you on my mind seven days a week.. Seven days a week, seven days a week..
7.
Anything but Easy (Nick Piunti, Geoff Michael) You make it last for one night. You take it back just for spite. You make it harder than it has to be. You make it anything but easy now. We make it up as we move along. We change the words, yeah we changed our song. We make it harder, than it has to be. We make it anything but easy, yeah anything at all, anything but easy now. We try to talk it over, inside out. Only leads to nowhere, nothing left to shout. Can we make it last for one night? Can we take it back, can we set things right? We make it harder than it has to be. We make it anything but easy, yeah anything at all, anything but easy now.
8.
Something’s Wrong (Nick Piunti) Do you want it more than you need it? Do you think it’s really worth repeating? Did you leave it in the corner, of your mind did you really think it over? Don’t you know it’s all the same, extra ordinary, just a flicker of the flame, from a former glory. I know you don’t want that. You can tell when something’s wrong If there’s a will then, there’s a way out, up to you how this is gonna play out. Try to rise up beyond the static, it never used to seem so automatic. Though you know it’s all been done put your own spin on it. It’s good to be the only one, who can shout about it. I know that you want that, I know that you want that, You can’t fake when something’s wrong
9.
Fell For You 03:12
Fell For You (Nick Piunti, Megan Piunti) There you go, once again, you turn your back, on your only friend, to satisfy a primal urge, yeah you’ll get, what you deserve. Someday, but not today, You’re the one that always gets away. I fell for you now I can’t get up. Been down so long running out of luck. I fell for you and ever since I’m stuck in this place, for always. You got me between the eyes. You strip the color out of the lies. The sun rises just to burn. There’s nothing like a lesson learned. Someday, but not today, You’re the crime I’m the one that pays. Don’t pretend we’ve never met. Give me something to forget, the time I waste away, the time I waste away. I fell for you now I can’t get up. Been down so long running out of luck. I fell for you and ever since I’m stuck in this place. I fell for you….
10.
Quicksand 02:50
Quicksand (Nick Piunti) You fell into a bottomless pit. You slipped out of nowhere. Getting out isn’t gonna be quick, you’ll find once you go there. Love is like quicksand throw me a rope or lend me a hand. I’ll pull you down with me right into the quicksand Taking everything that you’re worth, even more if you let it. By any other name it’s a curse but we don’t stop pretending Though the pain won’t stop, giving all we got, no the pain won’t stop us now Welcome to the edge of the earth we go without question. Never said this wasn’t gonna hurt, can we make an exception.
11.
Red Tail Lights (Nick Piunti Geoff Michael) Scarred by the alarm at 6 o’clock, so hard to get you moving. Out of bed and to the hardest part. don’t always know what we’re doing. Catching the rays of a setting sun, more than one way of getting it done. Going nowhere fast do you think we can last, think we could change? From chasing the red tail lights, Do you think we could change, From chasing the red tail lights. Scarred by the alarm you know we are half way to ruin. Carving up what’s left can be so hard, Heaven knows what we’re doing. Catching the rays of a setting sun, more than one way of getting it done. Going nowhere fast do you think we can last, think we could change? from chasing the red tail lights. Do you think we could change, from chasing the red tail lights… Better days are coming, better nights are calling. Better days are coming, better nights are calling.

about

Nick Piunti Detroit, Michigan

Nick Piunti began his musical journey as a 12 year old rocker with his teen band Dwarf. 50 years later and his passion for creating 3 minute bursts of melodic rock has not faded. Now with The Complicated Men (Jeff Hupp, Ron Vensko, Kevin Darnall, Joe Daksiewicz) Nick continues to release perhaps the best music of his career. This takes late bloomer to the extreme. ... more
